FRS needs more power. Swap 3.4 Judd V8. Make a nice 500 to 600hp. Price? Well, it is gonna cost a little more than an FRS, for the engine, which will probably need to be rebuilt after 20 miles.

You couldn't put it on the street. Race motors don't like to idol.

My god, that sounds almost bests the F40LM turbo monstrosity.

How about a Hartley 2.8 V8 good for about 400 hp. And it will idle!

edit: I guess its 2.0 litres now. It used to be two hayabusa top ends mated to a custom bottom, now it might be entirely bespoke.

I'm a dick, but I just canNOT resist.

But do they like to American Idol? ;)
And yes I know, but it would be fun to try. Plus, even if they did idle, they would probably bog at lower RPMs.

It would probably work on the street and cost less, but it wouldn't be different and as we know that is the most important thing out there.

I have never heard of this company. Do they work with professional teams at all, or are they just crate engines?

my pipe dream is actually to buy an FR-S and swap an ITB'd and built BEAMS 3SGE keep in NA and in the Toyota family

The one above is "based" off of a S65 BMW V8, it really doesn't share anything in common though.
Their F1 offerings are pretty good too.

Are they lighter than the boxer? Also, how much power would this have NA?

Im not even sure, to be honest. I know of them because of a joint project with Dennis Palatov and his Hartley V8 Atom. I've been following his build projects since about 2005.

Hartley Enterprise is located in my home state. I contacted them when I was in college to arrange a tour with my engineering class. They are a small time shop, and at the time couldn't accomodate us. So we went to Buell instead. (RIP)

Why not a AE-86?

It is pretty close, factory 5th gen BEAMS 3SGE have 207 hp and 160 ft/lb torque. Online it says its 129 kg.
![]() 03/26/2014 at 19:43 |

That is closer to reality ;) I just can't justify swapping it to my AE86 right now since I just swapped a refreshed 4AGE in last year.

You have one? lucky!! I'd rather have a 4AGE in one anyway, would probably swap to a 20 V though, can't beat the sound of a well built N/A 4AGE

refreshed/rebuilt 4age...good for 120 hp lol

:O nice!! If'n I were to win the lottery or something, I'd dump a butt load (understatement) of money in the my Z, turning it into a not easily streatable track/drift car, then get a truck to tow it with, put a larger motor and add boost to my 65' Beetle (sleeper :D ), and then I'd try to find a Trueno hatch and 20V swap it for auto cross and daily'ing, the truck would be to daily in the snow as well of course, and the Z and Beetle would be driven on nice days :)
